The Franciscan University track and field team competed at Youngstown State University’s Mid Major Invitational on Feb. 1-2.
The Lady Barons fought hard, with many athletes achieving personal best times.
Junior Rebecca Bolster ran the 200m and got a personal best of 27.96 seconds. Her time is the fourth fastest in the program’s history.
Bolster also broke her personal best in the 400m with a time of 1:01.32. Her 400m time is the third fastest in program history.
Freshman Lauren Dosch broke her school record in the 800m with a time of 2:18.33.
Sophomore Annie Seida was the fastest Baron in the mile with a time of 5:43.29 and the 3000m.
Freshman Mary Elizabeth Savage also posted a personal record in the mile, running with Seida and junior Emma O’Keefe.
The men also competed well, breaking both personal records and school records.
Freshman Andrew Menck was the fastest Baron in the 60m with a time of 7.37 seconds.
Alexander Blose competed in the 60m hurdles, breaking his school record with a best time of 8.78 seconds.
Freshman Dominic Young ran a personal best in the mile with a time of 5:20.65.
Freshman Luke Tran posted a new collegiate best in the long jump with a jump of 4.85m.
Junior Charles Jardine got a new personal record in the shot put, launching one 13.15m. This is the second-best throw in school history. Senior Tyson Smith and freshman Raphael Blose both threw in the 9m range.
The weekend of Feb. 9, the Barons will split, with some competing at the All-Ohio Championships and others at the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games.
