The Franciscan University Barons competed in a large invitational against Division I and II schools in Lewisburg, PA over the weekend, breaking several records.
For the women, junior Claire Walters broke the university record in the 1500 meter, running a time of 4:41.96 to place third in her heat and 62nd in a field of 90 runners. Sophomore Jessica Cambell ran a time of 2:24.59 seconds in the 800-meter run to place 135th in a field of 166 runners.
On the field, sophomore Brigid Mack placed 18th out of 40 competitors with a throw of 39.11 meters in the discus, although she fouled on her last throw.
For the men, junior Ryan Ozymy raced a 1: 53.79 in the 800 meters, breaking a school record held Bill Johns since 2013. Jones received All-American statue in the 5K and the 10K, according to Franciscan Athletic stories from 2013. Senior David Cappello followed Ozymy with a time of 1:53.95. Ozymy placed 39th on a field of 189 competitors, while Cappello finished 43rd.
Senior Miguel Daez ran a time of 3:59.31 in the 1500 meter, placing 17th out of 101 runners, breaking his personal best by four minutes.
The Barons will compete in the 53rd Sparky Adams Invitational at Baldwin Wallace University, before competing in the PAC Championships on April 27th and 28th.
