The Franciscan men’s tennis team faced defeat to the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets eight matches to one at home on Feb. 10 at 4 p.m.

This was the Baron’s tennis team’s second home game of the spring season, both of which were losses.

The match opened with three sets of doubles, which started with freshman Aaron Heinlein and junior Travis Mistry who battled the Yellow Jackets top duo with great momentum. The Baron’s duo fell short in the first set with an 8-3 loss.

The match continued into the second set of doubles. Freshman Christopher Yvars and sophomore Callahan Hecton continued fighting strong against the Yellow Jacket’s second top duo and fell short in the first set with an 8-1 loss.

The Barons battled in the third round of doubles with senior Aidan Palladino and sophomore David Bourdelais holding their own but falling short by a single point as the Yellow Jacket’s walked away with the win for that last round.

The Barons continued playing with desperation and effort for a win in six rounds of singles.

Mistry made a comeback in the second set with a 6-3 lead. Mistry’s battle was cut short in the fourth set due to an injury.

Yvars battled vigorously in the second round of singles, falling short in the second set to his appoint.

Palladino fought with force in the third round of the single sets, coming out strong in the second set with a score of 7-5 but falling short in the third set.

Bourdelais fought in an uphill battle, winning both of his sets against the Yellow Jackets 7-5 in the first set and 6-4 in the second set.

The Barons ultimately lost to the Yellow Jackets. The Baron’s next home game is Wednesday, March 20 against Allegheny College.
