Franciscan athletes continued to break records in the Jud Logan “Light Giver” Open at Ashburn College on Saturday, February 5, 2023.
On the men’s side, Joseph Rohde broke a university record in the indoor 60-meter dash, previously held by alum Jacob Baugher, with a time of 7.30 seconds, which is also the fourth fastest of all time in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).
In the four by 400-meter relay, the Barons took home another school record after the team consisting of sophomore Joseph Rohde, senior David Cappello, senior Ryan Ozymy and freshman Aidan Flannery ran a time of 3:25.41, which is 5 seconds under the indoor record of 3.30.14 set in 2020.
The relay time is also a season record for the PAC for the season so far.
Flannery broke his own school record in the high jump with a height of 1.80 meters, placing him the top for in the PAC this season.
The women’s relay team also posted a university record after a team consisting of freshmen Rebecca Bolster and Clara Symingtom, and juniors Claire Walters and Victoria Unnerstall ran a time of 4:27.76 in the four by 400-meter relay.
The women’s relay performance replaced the indoor record held since 2019.
In her first career attempt at Franciscan, Claire Walters ran a time of 5:23.19 in the one-mile run, the third fasted in program history. Jessica Campbell followed with a time of 5:47.39 and placed 47th in the race.

In the long Jump, Alana Bradford jumped 4.34 meters, achieving a personal best and becoming the second longest jumper in Franciscan history, just 0.04 meter short of the school record set by Julie Randall since 2011.
Next week, the Barons travel to the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games in Geneva, OH, in which they will compete against the best athletes in the region, before heading to the PAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 23.
