Crown of Creation hosts annual “Guys in Ties, Girls in Pearls” Dance
On the evening of Feb. 6, women’s household Crown of Creation hosted their annual winter dance “Guys in Ties, Girls in Pearls” at 9pm in the JC Williams Center.
Crowns members arrived as early as 6pm to create the ideal atmosphere, decorating with streamers, balloons, dimmed lights and a photo area where attendees took pictures throughout the night.
The household sisters also set up the Crowns dance staple: a table at the entrance with three wristbands, color-coded to indicate relationship status. Green wristbands indicated “single,” red wristbands indicated “taken,” and yellow wristbands communicated that “it’s complicated”.
Throughout the night, music from popular artists such as Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift blasted out of the speakers, hyping up the large crowd.
Freshman Leah Reinoso said afterwards: “There were so many fun songs that were so fun to dance to with my friends! Every time a song had a beat drop, there was so much energy! It was so good.”
The dance was semi-formal, and students dressed in a wide range of outfits: formal dresses to suits and ties to sundresses and slacks, complete with glow sticks and heart glasses for some extra pizazz.
The experience was summed up by freshman Isabella Palacios, who said: “It was amazing! Hanging out with friends and dancing the whole night was such an incredible experience.”
