The Crowns of Creation household held their annual Guys in Ties, Girls in Pearls fundraiser dance in the JC Williams Center on Feb. 9 from 9 p.m. to midnight.

The fee at the entrance was $3 for singles and $5 for couples. Upon entering people were given wristbands to designate their relationship status as “single” with a green band, “it’s complicated” with a yellow or purple band, and “taken” with a red band.

The dim lighting, silver sparkling streamers across the atrium and the balloons created an atmosphere great for dancing.

The dance was semi-formal attire, so guys were dressed in slacks, button-downs, ties and jackets, while the girls wore their best dresses and pearls.

Senior English major Cecillia Razo was one of the Crowns in charge of the music. She played a bunch of classic party hits, a couple of slow songs and a few Spanish songs to spice things up.

Crowns, one of the larger women’s households on campus, did not disappoint. Freshman Connor Occhipinti said, “The music was good, the atmosphere was great and I liked the prom-like appeal it had.”

Junior psychology major and Crown Natalie Garza said, “I enjoyed the decorations, especially the pearls, the music was nice and it was a good turnout.”

Senior finance major Tyson Smith said “I loved the blend of nostalgia pop and Spanish songs, especially ‘Gasolina.’”

Junior business major Paul Fuerst said, “It was a great event for a Friday night!”
