The showdown of the Philadelphia Eagles and the two-time reigning champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, was a highly anticipated matchup this spring semester. Many were eager to gather with friends and family to watch the game, and any football fan would agree that a good Super Bowl watch party isn’t complete without some delicious snacks, treats, and appetizers.
As excitement for the Super Bowl buzzed around campus, students were asked about their favorite foods and must-have snacks for the game.
Sophomore business management major Peter Cavalieri (pictured third from the left) said, “During the Super Bowl, I like to eat chips and guacamole, vegetable board, and pizza.”
Personally, I would agree that a balance of healthy vegetables and fresh, hot pizza is the way to go, but for many others, carrots and celery are set aside for more traditional snacks like appetizers and chips.
Janey Winner (pictured second from the left) knew right away what her favorite snack was for the game. “My favorite dish is the buffalo chicken dip, because it reminds me of the Super Bowl season and football season in general … It’s delicious and I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like it,” responded the freshman finance major.
Helen Leon (first picture from the left), freshman communication arts major, shared that her favorite thing to eat during the big game is “potato chips, because it’s a perfect go-to snack.”
Whether you’re on the couch at home or bringing a bag to a friend’s, chips are always considered a classic and convenient savory snack for the Super Bowl.
“My favorite Super Bowl snack is mozzarella sticks and marinara sauce, because it’s a good savory bite to eat while watching the game with your family and friends,” said junior theology and catechetics major, Josh Hauge (pictured fourth from the left). Hauge added that while mozzarella sticks might not be a typical Super Bowl snack, they are underrated and more people should have them.
Regardless of what you’re snacking on or how many pizzas you ordered, the Super Bowl brings all football fans together for the biggest game of the season and provides a time of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and entertainment.
