Franciscan University’s Ultimate Team, FATAL, is ready to fully experience the joy of playing the sport they cherish and love to glorify God as they strive for a fruitful season.

FATAL, started off its season with returning veterans and new recruits at Fight at the Falls Tournament in Buffalo, New York, last weekend.

A year ago, Patrick Flanagan, Stephen Wilson, Michael Bissonnette and Tommy Koch established FATAL, the official ultimate team for Franciscan University that would represent our university at various ultimate tournaments in the region.

The name of the team FATAL was decided in memory of Neal Rylett, a dedicated Franciscan student and ultimate player, who passed away in 2012.

On its first year as an official team, FATAL astonished everyone by performing very well. FATAL came out on top in the Division III Sectionals and Regional for the USA Ultimate College League. FATAL was only one point away from going to the Nationals.

This year looks especially promising for Franciscan University’s Ultimate Team. All but one of the original team is returning and there are many new players joining the team.

The potential of the team has proven evident from the past weekend where the team competed in Buffalo and came out winning six games straight, only dropping their first match.

“Our goal this year is not only to go to the Nationals but to see how far we can get,” said Tommy Koch, current team captain.

FATAL will play in a tournament in Oberlin the weekend of Oct. 11 and 12.
