Freedom Fall Bash

On Oct. 10 at 4 p.m., Turning Point USA (TPUSA) hosted a fall-themed festival in the Finnigan Fieldhouse Courtyard. TPUSA collaborated with Young Americans for Freedom (YAF), Guardians of the Divine Will household and St. Vitas Social Dance Club for the event.

Additionally, there was a bake sale to support AIM Women’s Center. They sold chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin bread, snickerdoodle cookies and various other baked goods. Guardians of the Divine Will provided food for the event, grilling hot dogs and hamburgers. There was also a drink table where attendees could grab a soft drink or have it mixed with other flavored syrups. In line with the fall theme, apple cider was also offered.

Those at the YAF table hosted a trivia challenge centered on American history. Depending on how many questions participants got right, they earned a certain amount of candy.

At the end of the drink table, students participated in a bobbing-for-apples game. To add to the fun, an inflatable bounce house obstacle course stood in the middle of the courtyard, where students bounced around and raced each other.

After a few hours, people gathered near the doors of the Finnegan Fieldhouse to witness some of the professors and TPUSA members get “pied.” It was done raffle-style, with attendees paying for a chance to throw a pie tin filled with whipped cream.

To wrap up the evening, Anthony Watson, a former Olympian, came to teach the attendees different line dances. After he left, the St. Vitas Social Dance Club resumed swing dancing for everyone who wanted to participate.

Freshman Ian Hunter said, “I definitely enjoyed the mixing of swing dancing, line dancing, intense bouncy houses races and being drenched after bobbing for apples.”
