At its meeting Sept. 16, Franciscan University Student Government unanimously approved Fall Bill 15, which allocated $901.66 to FUSG for the purchase of two new purified water fountains.

The fountains will be placed in Marian and Trinity residence halls, explained Jacob Schmiesing, head of the finance committee. The plans were made with the support of Physical Plant Services at the university, he said.

Fall Bill 12 was also passed at the meeting, which allocated $600 to the Graduate Counseling Association to fund speaking events.

The two association representatives present at the meeting had originally submitted a request for $1,500 to cover events for the entire school year.

However, after President Athanasius Sirilla clarified that student government funding is allocated by semester, Schmiesing moved to amend the bill to reflect just $600. The amendment and then the bill were both passed unanimously.

Also during the meeting:

  • Fall Bill 17 amended the FUSG bylaws to consolidate the welfare and development committees and to create the position of Student Support Advocate.
  • Fall Bill 13 allocated $19.95 to FUSG for the purchase of an SD card for use in the student government’s camera.
  • Fall Bill 14 reimbursed Sirilla $54.33 for buying lunch for Matt Fradd, who came to campus for a speaking event the week before.
  • Fall Bill 15 allocated $39.99 to FUSG for the purchase of a coffee maker for the Student Club Offices.
