Franciscan University Student Government passed four bills during its formal meeting Oct. 9.
Fall Bill #25 reimbursed Vice President Alex McKenna $568 for airfare to “The Network” fall conference. “The Network” is a group of student governments from Newman Guide-approved schools across the country and is an opportunity for them to network and brainstorm together.
Sen. Carly Newman said the conference was very beneficial last year and that McKenna was a great choice to represent Franciscan University. The bill passed without an issue.
Fall Bill #24 allocated $500 to Young Americans for Freedom. The money will be used to bring in a speaker.
The Student Council for Exceptional Children received $445 from Fall Bill #26.
Sen. Patrick Bouchard asked the club’s representatives if the club would require any additional funding for the school year, to which the representatives, Samantha Harrison and Gabriella Hollendonner, responded no, adding that the club plans to do its own fundraisers. The bill passed unanimously.
Sebastian Koehler, president of the Board Game Association, was reimbursed $20 from Fall Bill #27. Koehler had paid out of pocket for some club expenses, so the club elected to reallocate funding from another budget item to reimburse him.
Student Government will next meet Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. in the St. Leo Room.
