The Franciscan University Lady Baron’s soccer team blew through their third victory on the windy Saturday, Sept. 13 at the first home game against Bethany College.
After the last game at Muskingum, this win was a great boost from the previous loss. The first half hour was packed with good defense and offense from Franciscan.
The ball for the most part was played on Bethany’s side. Even with good plays showing face here and there, Franciscan was not getting past the aggressive offense of Bethany.
Toward the end of the first half Franciscan shot their first goal by senior forward Jordan Byrley. The already animated Franciscan student crowd vamped up the energy with hopes of seeing another goal in the next few minutes.
Franciscan held the ball for a while after the first goal but unfortunately lost it to Bethany.
The Franciscan goalkeeper blocked each shot on goal, making it possible for the team to continue in victory.
Half way through the second half, sophomore forward Susanna Almeida scored the second goal.
Franciscan left with a great win.
The Lady Barons’ next game will be at Thiel Sept. 15 at 6 p.m.
