The Franciscan University women’s volleyball team lost to the Westminster Titans 3- 0 in a home game on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.

This matchup was the first test for the Lady Barons since it was their fourth game of the season but only their first conference meeting.

Lady Barons graduate Theology and Christian Ministry major middle hitter Rani Herbert started off hot against the Titans in the first set with 3 kills.

Lady Barons senior Theology and Journalism major outside hitter Mary Jean Cadman disrupted the Titans lead making three kills in a row in the first set.

Despite their efforts the Titans pulled away in the first set, winning by a score of 25-19.

The Lady Barons had an early lead in the second set 6-4 only but started falling short when the Titans showcased their offensive talent.

The Lady Barons attempted a comeback when the score was 23-12 adding a couple points. Freshmen pre-nursing middle hitter Tessa Miller and psychology and Spanish major outside hitter Cassidy McCollum helped put a stop to the Titans momentum.

The Titans remained calm and silenced the Barons rally scoring two straight points to end the set 25-14.

The third set showed much the same story as the first two and the Titans walked away with a 25-20 victory and a 3-0 sweep over the Lady Barons.

The Lady Barons next home game is Saturday Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. against King’s College in the Finnegan Fieldhouse.
