The Troubadour Staff 2023


Christopher Dacanay, Editor-in-Chief, is a senior communication arts major with a concentration in journalism and a narrative arts minor. Raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Chris has been a writer for The Troubadour since his first semester at Franciscan. Since then, he has served as a writer, Distribution Manager, and Sports Editor. He has also been named “Staff Writer of the Semester” and “Editor of the Semester.”

Chris is a multi-instrumentalist, currently producing his own music and music for his bands The Last Rebellion, Poisonous Myth, The Coastal Elite, and Ski Club. He is the president of the Music Discovery Club on campus. He is also the coordinator of Fishers of Men household and a radio show host on 88.3 FM WFRScc Franciscan Effect.



Mia Brounstein, Assistant Editor, is a junior majoring in theology and journalism hailing from the great state of Minnesota. She was the paper’s Austria correspondent for the fall 2022 semester, and now she is excited to get even more involved in the Troubadour. She hopes this job will prepare her for a career as a reporter.

When she isn’t in the Troub office, Mia can be found painting, listening to Vance Joy music, making and enjoying good coffee, and spending time with her household, Theotokos. She loves sunny days, exploring new cities, and good food.








Liam Fanning, Copy Editor, is a senior history major who works as the Troubadour’s copy editor. He started writing for the Troubadour as a junior and moved up to copy editor the following year. From Westmoreland County, Virginia, he was homeschooled all through to college. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, reading, playing rugby, and working outside, especially at his job as a park ranger.









Agnes Higgins, Photography Editor, is the big sister to three sisters and a brother. She was homeschooled with Seton Home Study School and wouldn’t trade it for the world. After moving to Florida, she spent two years at Ave Maria University, where she became Ave’s first Springboard diver. She then transferred to Franciscan, became a Criminal Justice major, and will be graduating in December of 2024. After graduation, she hopes to work in the intelligence field, preferably with the DEA or Homeland Security. When she is not studying to fight crime and protect America, Agnes enjoys swing and ballroom dancing, listening to music, and drinking coffee. She likes to shoot guns, as well as play airsoft. She misses the hot Florida weather and her pet rats. Her dream is to become a stay-at-home wife and mother.




Grace Murphy, Web Editor, is a junior biology major from Hartland, WI. She has been writing for the Troub since freshman year, won “Writer of the Semester” for Fall 2021, and served as social media manager last spring. She spent the fall in Austria and loved exploring the country’s natural beauty. Grace is currently involved in Alzheimer’s research on campus and rides with the equestrian club. Outside of the Troub, Grace loves to ski, hike, knit, and try out different coffee shops. After college, Grace is interested medicine and public health.








Robert Stephens, Distribution Manager, is a senior philosophy major from Eagle River Alaska. Robert enjoys playing piano, singing, and sewing when he isn’t catching up on homework. His favorite dinosaurs are Allosaurus and Spinosaurus. Robert plans on going to law school after he graduates.










Leo Schafer, business manager, is a Senior Business major from central Maryland in his third semester as The Troubadour’s Business Manager. He is a member of the Knights of the Holy Queen Household and works as the General Manager of Franciscan FATAL ultimate. If he could give you one piece of advice, it would be to pick your YouTube video before you pour the cereal. That way it doesn’t go soggy.









Kelsie Swann, Layout Editor, is a freshman communication arts major from Ellicott City Maryland. She enjoys playing soccer and played intramural soccer in the fall.
