The 2024 Major League Baseball World Series ended Oct. 30 with the Dodgers defeating the Yankees four games to one, making the Dodgers the kings of baseball this year. Two of the most iconic and richest teams in all the league created baseball history in a series of matches that will be forever remembered.

Game one of the series took place in Los Angeles, giving the Dodgers a home field advantage. Being at home gave them star-filled energy, for each player delivered above and beyond, giving the Dodgers the first game of the series at 6-3.

A significant highlight from this was Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman’s grand-slam at the very end of the game. Though suffering from a sprained ankle and with two outs into the 10th inning, Freeman hit a 92 mph homer, reminding every baseball fan of the miracles that occur in this sport.

Game two of the series was won once again by the Dodgers 4-2, taking the second game of the series. This victory came at a cost. Though they won the game, pitcher and hitter Shohei Ohtani suffered a left-shoulder injury on a stolen-base attempt in the seventh inning.

In game three the Dodgers continued their streak, winning 4-2 and taking a 3-0 lead. Although the Yankees had home field advantage, they did not come alive until the ninth inning with a two-run homer from outfielder Alex Verdugo. But the Dodgers again proved their resilience from another two-homer from Freeman.

Game four of the series changed the pace with a victory from the Yankees 11-4 at Yankee Stadium. With a grand slam from short stop Anthony Volpe in the third inning, the Yankees proved their talent and place in the World Series.

Game five brought the World Series to its conclusion with the Dodgers winning the last game 7-6. This close game was a true fight for survival by the Yankees and a fight for victory by the Dodgers. Overall, the Dodgers proved their superiority through overcoming a five-run deficit at the beginning of the game and taking advantage of multiple defensive blunders from the Yankees.

The Dodgers therefore conclude the 2024 World Series with a memorable victory that will go down in baseball history.
