Students came together for a night of wine and a movie Tuesday evening beginning at 7 p.m.

“A Night of Wine and Socials” began with a wine social at 7 p.m., which continued until 9 p.m. The movie “Sing 2” was shown in the International Room at 8:30 p.m. after a few technical difficulties.

The wine social was attended by over three dozen students and there were various wines and snack platters containing breads, cheese, fruits, sandwiches and meats, all provided by Parkhurst.

Soft drinks and water were provided for students less than 21 years of age.

The Gentile Gallery was decorated with wine bottles stuffed with flowers and a giant martini glass in the back of the room. Students were given wine glasses with the Franciscan University of Steubenville logo on them.

Around half a dozen students attended the “Sing 2” showing. Juice boxes, chips and cookies were provided free of charge.

Student Government intended to help host the event, but a busy schedule led to them being cut from the plans.

Senior Jessica Bassili attended both the wine social and the movie and enjoyed the company.

“I really enjoyed it,” Bassili said. “It’s a nice way for upperclassmen to come together and enjoy each other’s company.”

Spring Fling Week kicked off with “An Evening in the Atrium,” which was a T-shirt toss that took place in the J.C. Atrium at 9 p.m. Monday, April 18.

Senior Isaac Iniguez, president of Exc!te, said the event was surprisingly well attended, considering it took place Easter Monday, the last day of break.
