The Franciscan women’s golf team placed third in their first home match of the season on Sept. 14 at noon.
It was a sunny day with an occasional overcast at the Barons home course, the Steubenville Country club.
The Barons played alongside Carlow University and Grove City, both of whom are regular opponents throughout the season.
The Barons had eight of their very own competing in this match. Junior Molly McLean began the Barons’ afternoon and led with four pars that contributed to her carding a 44 in the front nine. McLean finished the back nine which totaled to her carding a 92, placing her third overall.
Freshman Catherine Ehresman played her personal best in her first home match of her collegiate career. Ehresman started her round with three pars in the front nine and added a couple pars toward the end of the back nine. Ehresman carded a 98, which placed her in the top five overall.
Junior Brooke Biagi carded a 103 placing third among her team. Sophomore Lauren David improved her game in this match and carded a 111, which was a jump start to her season.
Junior Emily Browne played her seasons best, carding a 117, which rounded her into the top six category of her team. Baron’s freshman Katie Black held her own and carded a 105.
Sophomore Sarah Kish played a strong game carding a 142 in this home match. Junior Avery Rice was one of the eight competing for Franciscan and completed the match with a 143.
The Barons shot a 404 overall as a team placing them third out of the teams playing. Carlow University won this match overall with a 101.
The Barons come back to the Steubenville Country Club Saturday Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. for a PAC Tune-Up before the PAC Championships.
